Les 7^e années commenceront, sous peu, tout une unité au sujet des blues… Cela dit, ils sont déjà au courant de leur tâche finale : composer un morceau, style blues, de douze portées. Ils choisiront le bon tempo. Ils structureront leur morceau.  Enfin, ils joueront leur morceau en tant que performance.

Dans le but de rendre l’expérience inoubliable, et plus réaliste, ils arrangeront leurs portées grâce à l’Application GarageBand. Bref, ils créeront un arrangement qui sera leur accompagnement lors de leur performance.

Au cours des dernières semaines, les élèves ont appris comment intégrer et modifier des boucles Apple Loops (de courts enregistrements professionnels à incorporer dans leurs compositions). Ces Loops contiennent une multitude d’instruments et pour tous les genres, styles et ambiances. Les élèves se sont bien amusés en les naviguant, et en combinant plusieurs boucles afin de créer de nouvelles pistes d’accompagnement.

Dans le même ordre d’idées, les élèves ont commencé à créer leurs propres boucles Apple Loops à partir de pistes d’instruments logiciels qu’ils ont enregistrés. De plus, ils ont découvert jusqu’à quel point GarageBand leur permet de réorganiser leur morceau à tout moment. Ils ont répété des couplets, effectué un copier-coller, déplacé la mélodie, etc.

L’exploitation de l’application continuera, et on espère partager quelques performances aussi!

In the coming weeks, the Grade 7s will begin their Blues unit in Music… Nonetheless, they are already very much aware of their final task: composing a twelve-bar blues rhythm. They are in charge of tempo, structure, and will be expected to perform their piece in front of their peers.

This experience will become even more unforgettable and authentic thanks in part to the GarageBand App, as students will create their own musical accompaniment. The track will become the backdrop to their twelve-bar blues performance!

Over the past several weeks, the students have been learning to create and modify Apply Loops (short, professional recordings that can be incorporated into their compositions). These Loops contain a multitude of instruments and cover every genre, style and ambience. The students have really enjoyed tinkering with, and combining many loops, thus creating new accompaniment possibilities!

Similarly, the Grade 7s have begun to create their own Apple Loops using the virtual “Smart Instrument” features. They have discovered just how incredible the GarageBand App is, permitting them to reorganize their piece at any given time! They have been able to repeat couplets, copy-paste various rhythm combinations, and even switch-up the melody.

Further exploration will continue, and we look forward to sharing some incredible performances, too!
